Backyard Picnic

Emory and I had a picnic lunch in our backyard one afternoon.  We enjoyed some tasty "gourmet" food, read A Kiss For Little Bear, went down the slide, walked around the yard and picked up anything that looked interesting (leaves, sticks, feathers).  Oh, and Emory got her super cute brand spankin' new Nikes dirty for the first time!

On a side note, I have to confess a not so proud moment of my mothering career.  Now, I would without a doubt lay my life down for my child.  I would jump in front of a rabid pit bull, stop a speeding bullet, even kill bugs and spiders so that they would not harm my precious angel.  However, this afternoon I fled a situation and left my baby girl all alone to fend for herself.  As we were walking around the yard (we do that a lot), Emory be-bopping along with me tagging along behind, suddenly I spotted a FROG hopping along the fence.  As any mature adult would have done, I shreiked and hightailed it in the opposite direction, completely abandoning my child alone with that horrendous beast.  After I ran halfway across the yard, I did go back (still keeping a safe distance) and grabbed my child, who had no clue that anything scary was happening.  Thank goodness for childhood innocence...she will not remember this near brush with disaster.

And P.S.  That frog incident has actually happened twice and both times I freaked out and ran away and left Emory there alone to deal with it!

Some pictures from our picnic, no frogs included.
